The Coldfall Sanction
Inspector James Fitzjames Spencer
Inspector City of London Police
Inspector James Fitzjames Spencer of the City of London Police has been assigned as the lead investigator in the death of Detective Cotford. Inspector Spenser had previously worked with the Metropolitan Police’s Special Branch answering directly to Detective Inspector Robinson-Kirk, who had been assigned to lead a short-lived clandestine Select Intelligence Division within Special Branch. Owing to “improprieties and the most injudicious conduct” during the nefarious Callaghan Investigation, the SID was decommissioned, several detectives reassigned, with Detective Inspector Robinson-Kirk and Inspector Spenser being dismissed from the Metropolitan Police. Spencer, acting as a private investigator for several years, was subsequently offered the position of Inspector within the City of London Police based upon his assistance in solving the Thorndyke Conundrum.
