The Coldfall Sanction
Hospital of St Joseph and Ste Mary
Buda-Pesh: The Hospital of St. Joseph and Ste. Mary is situated near a small woodland park, 10 kilometers from the Danube. A high stone wall surrounds the hospital’s gardens, and you get a strong smell of garlic as soon as you arrive — it grows wild in the grounds here, it seems. The door to the hospital is sturdy and reinforced with iron. Crucifixes on the walls all seem to hold the Savior frozen in a moment of agony.
Disinfectant and incense from the dark chapel combine to almost mask the smell of death as the small hospital has been overrun with medical evacuees from the front as well as civilians suffering from cholera, dysentery, and typhus.
